You sat on the roof of the orphanage, looking down at the other kids, who were playing outside. You preferred being up here than down there, feeling free like a bird. Free, with no borders, no rules, no limits. You spot a girl, sitting under a tree. She looked lonely. You crawls to the other side of the roof, slid the opposite side and jumps on one of the tree branches. You sits down, picking up an apple and threw it in her lap. She squeaked in surprise, hesitantly taking the apple. She lifted her eyes up, but you quickly hide, so she won’t see you. Thankfully the old lady calls everyone to go back inside and the girl left in a hurry, leaving you to your thoughts. You only were left there, but no one seems to notice. You watched them all going inside, making yourself comfortable on the branch. The weather was too nice to stay inside and you planned to take a nap for a few hours. Closing your eyes you fall in a light slumber, missing the evens happening this day. The girl you wanted to make friends with was adopted by a nice family. Her name you were about to find in the nearest future.
You were training in the woods all by yourself. You were too stubborn to listen to Achilles. A couple of years after the girl was adopted you run away from the orphanage to find her. Since then you got in a lot of trouble, until the assassin found you, taking you under his wing. You never listened to him, getting on his last nerve. You punched the tree in front of you ignoring the pain of the impact. Your skin was covered in sweat, your breath coming out in heavy gasps. You only paused when you heard your Mentor calling for you.
-Damn it! - You growled, picking up your shirt, dressing, while walking. You ignored the blood dripping off your knuckles. You reached the shack you were staying at, seeing the older man, waiting for you, but for your surprise he was not alone. There was a girl, sitting on the porch and she seems awfully familiar to you.
-You should warn me before you disappear somewhere- Achilles said with a stern voice. He then notices your bleeding knuckles, frowning- Go take care of those or they will get infected.
You walk pass him, heading behind the house. You don’t need him to tell you what to do. He left you stay in this abandoned building and was only appearing once in a while to give you small tasks and missions. What you do doesn’t concerns him You take an empty bucket and head to the well to get fresh water. You felt movement behind you, pulling a knife out your belt, abruptly turning, the blade pointing at the intruder. It was the girl, but when she followed you it was a mystery. You have to admit she got some sneaking skills.
-I thought you might need help- she stared at you not fazed by the weapon you hold. You put the knife back in your belt, continuing your way to the well. You lower the bucket in, ignoring the pain. You flinched in surprise, when you felt her hands near yours as she helped you pulling the bucket back up. She pulled it out of your hands and set it on the ground
-Sit!-she gave you a stern look and you couldn’t argue with her, sitting on a rock near the well. She pulled out a piece of cloth from her pocket and dips it in the water. Taking your hand in hers she proceeds to clean the bruises. You winced when she presses a little harder. She gripped your hand tighter, her eyes focused on your knuckles. All that was is silence between you too. Your eyes lift up to look at her face and then it hits you. She was the girl from the orphanage. But she doesn’t know who you are and for all the attempts to make friends with her, but the fact you were not brave enough to talk to her, stood on the way. Yet now you had this chance and you are going to make it right.
-What’s your name? - You asked curious to finally learn her name. She looks up and your eyes met, your heart skipping a beat.
-It’s Hope! Hope Jensen! - She said, returning her attention to your hands- And how they call you.
-/Your Name/! I don’t know if that name sounds familiar to you- you continued to look at her. She sighed, raising on her feet and heading for the house. You watched after her confused, wondering what you actually said. When you thought she won’t return, she opens the back door, carrying bandages in her hand. Without a word she kneeled back down and carefully wrapped the bandages around your palms. When she was done she looks up at you and slaps you across the face.
-Why you never spoke to me before. I knew you were looking at me. I knew you were there in the shadows. Yet you never talk to me- she looked down wiping a tear from the corner of her eye. She yelped in surprise when you pulled her close, your arms wrapping around her.
-I am here now- you whispered, holding her tight scared she will fade. Nearby Achilles was watching you, many thoughts chasing in his mind.
A year later both you and hope were introduced to the Brotherhood. You become a team, doing anything together. On missions you always work together, succeeding every time. You thought keeps your distance from the Brotherhood, sometimes gambling with your own life, facing the Templars on your own. But one thing or more like person that goes over your nerves is Shay Cormac. He was really hard to concentrate when you training with him and on top of all he spends too much time with Hope Even if he is her pupil you are jealous and you showed it openly. You even punched him once. One day a massage came over you about stolen artefacts. You and Hope were busy discussing important matter. The messenger came in a rush reporting the news.
-This is bad- you frowned, slamming your hands on the table- One is bad enough, but two.
- We have to come up with a plan and fast- she pointed out, looking back at the messenger- Inform the others right away. I am calling a meeting here in a week from now. Now go!
The man bowed and left in a hurry. You knew you can’t wait one week for them to handle the problem and Hope read it in your eyes. Instantly her hand reached for you, gripping on your shoulder, which took you by surprise. You glanced down at her, but she was looking the opposite way.
-Do what is right, but…but make sure you come back safe- she tried to hold back tears, you can see that. You took her face in your hands making her look up at you.
-I promise I will come back- you smiled at her, kissing her forehead, before you left the room, to face to face with death once again.
The pain! The blood! Both so familiar to you, you were used to them. Something went wrong when you sneak in the Templars hideout and currently they held you as a prisoner. Another punch in the jaw forced you to spill out blood.
-You are one though basterd, assassin. We had a lot of trouble capturing you- Samuel Smith panted heavily, eyes narrowed at you- But now you are in our mercy and your life depends on how you will answer our questions.
-Like I will tell you something you British scum- you laughed, receiving another punch. Right then a man walks in the room, whispering something to Smith. He frowns, leaving with the other Templars, the door locking behind them. You wait for their voices to fade, before working on the ropes around your wrists. It hurts, the rope cutting your skin, but you keep struggling, finally slipping your hands free. You rubbed your sore wrists, taking a look around. There was no way out except the door. Luckily there was no one guarding it. You kicked at the door harder enough to make it budge, but still it was locked. You kick it again attracting some attention. Two soldiers rushed to your cell to see what was going on, but when they open the door, they faced an empty room. They were too slow to react, before you knocked them both, hitting the back of the head of the closest one and punching the other. You quickly take their guns, robbing their uniforms for other weapons, before you left. Making your way out the room you hurry to an open window, climbing the walls to the second floor. You were sure if the artefacts are here they will be kept anywhere. A bullet flies near your head, almost hitting you. You climb faster, slipping through the nearest open window. You found yourself in an empty room, taking a good look at it. There was a shelf that stood oddly against the wall. The rushing steps of the soldiers made you hurry to the shelf, searching every object and book for a hidden button. You press a marble statue head with your elbow and the shelf moved to the side. Right then the door of the room swung open and Hope enter the room, quickly closing the door and blocking it with a chair.
-Hope? - You stared at her confused. By the sound of your voice she turns, looking surprised to see you.
-You are alive! - She runs over to you, wrapping her arms around you-I thought I won’t see you again.
Then she pulls away noticing the secret passage. The soldiers were outside the room, trying to break the door and you grabbed her hand and runs inside, down a dark stairs. You didn’t stop until reached the bottom. You were in an underground labyrinth; losing is the end of you. Yet you had a way of orientation, going further in the darkness. You don’t need light to see, your assassin training developed all your senses.
-Do you know where you are going?-Hope asks, but you were to concentrate to answer her. Finally you reached a room, stopping at the doorway. You kneeled down, grabbed a palm full of sand and tree it forward. There were tiny wires everywhere. You pulled out your throwing knives, throwing them one by one, and cutting through the wires. Suddenly a poison gas came out the walls and you pull Hope down, motioning for her to cover her mouth. Both of you crawled over to the other side where were the artifacts were. You srood up, still bended down, taking Precursor box , handing it to Hope, then picks up the Manuscript and kneels back down, following Hope the same way back to the exit.
You found another way out, leading out in the woods. It took you a while to reach back to New York, where the other assassins were waiting. There were too many soldiers searching for you. When you finally arrived Achilles was waiting for you at the door with serious look.
-You better had a good excuse for all that commotion. The Templars are searching all the cities and villages in the area- he looked between you and when neither spoke, he sighed, turning his back at you- The others are waiting.
You followed him inside to a grand hall where the other assassins were waiting. Achilles motioned to Liam and Shay to take the artifacts and take them to safety. When you handed the Manuscript to Shay you gave him warning look to which he answered the same way. Something about him was diferent and you suspects things are about to go worse from this moment.
